Many more of the Freeview channels are now available to stream free, anytime.

Yes folks, you are reading that right. If you are in possession of a Symbian mobile phone, you’ll be delighted to know that Spotify today launched Spotify for Symbian.
You’ll of course need a Spotify Premium subscription costing £9.99 per month, but I promise you it is well worth the money.
Sadly, I don’t have a Symbian phone so I wont be testing the new software anytime soon. However, if you have a Symbian phone, head straight over to m.spotify.com and you’ll be redirected to the right download. If you aren’t sure whether you have a Symbian phone or not, you can use that link anyway and the site will let you know whether you’re good to go or not.
This is good news for Spotify as the new release hugely broadens the market that Spotify can get to and will hopefully help the company to persuade more people onto their premium plan.
Big news iPhone and iPod Touch users – you can now get live TV in the UK on your Apple devices.
Before I explain and you explode in excitement, you need to head straight over to http://iphone.tvcatchup.com to get the service.
The service is in beta so you only get some of the Freeview channels, but all the big ones are up on there.
I’ve just tried it now and it’s absolutely brilliant. The service is apparently optimised for 3G and Wi-Fi, but I’ve just ran it through on Wi-Fi and it streams in harmony. I’m on a 2MB connection here and it loads up really quickly, and hasn’t buffered once in the last 15 minutes. Perfect!
This is another brilliant addition to the TVCatchup service. Perfect if you’re in need of some TV and you aren’t at home.
Great work TVC, I’m really looking forward to the final version, but for now the beta is way more than I need!

This website has been around for quite a while (I think, anyway) but I only recently came across it from another tech blog I was browsing through. I find it really useful for determining the most popular software as well as search engines, ISPs, and more!

It can also show you trends – so you can see where browsers (for example) are going in terms of how popular they are. There are some handy graphs and charts.
It doesn’t cost anything and be extremely handy. I shall definitely be referring to it in future posts as I think it can be very useful.
It actually would be really good if more music providers allowed purchasing music by SMS. I think it’s a great idea that’s brilliant if you can’t be bothered to use credit cards (or don’t have them).
The only company that I know which offers this service seems to be 7digital but a) they are not cheap for SMS purchases of tracks (£1.50 per track is very expensive for a song – £1 is justifiable but £1.50!) and b) the £1.50 cost only covers tracks up to 99p. That means a 51p surcharge for using SMS – rip off!
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows any other music by SMS services, that work either in the US or the UK.
Any ideas?
I wish companies would realise the potential of this – think of all the kids who could legally be buying music by SMS without a credit card!
